Design and Exterior Changes

Mahindra XUV 3XO RX Variant – Full Review, Features, Price & Real-World Experience

First off, let’s look at the key. You get buttons for lock, unlock, and boot open, and it’s a flip-key.

You’ll immediately notice changes in the car’s front look. The grille, which previously came in a piano black finish, is now in body colour. The Mahindra logo and chrome finishing are also here. It features LED projector headlamps with DRL lights and integrated indicators, which look quite stunning. However, regarding the body-colored grille, my opinion is a bit different; I personally preferred the old piano black finish. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments!

On the bonnet, you’ll see sharp edges, and the radiator grille comes in a mesh design. Below, you’ll find skid plates. This variant also includes ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) features, which we’ll discuss in detail inside the car.

There’s a significant change in the side profile, too – it now gets black alloy wheels. The tire profile is 205/65 R16 inches, and the front tires have disc brakes. The claddings are black, and the ground clearance is 201 mm. Its wheelbase is 2600 mm, offering better comfort inside.

You get auto-foldable and electronically adjustable ORVMs (Outside Rear-View Mirrors) with sequential turning indicators. However, this car does not have a 360° camera, but an ADAS camera is provided.

Another notable change is its all-black roof, which looks quite stunning and gives it a dual-tone appearance. There’s no chrome belt design on the window. At the rear, you’ll find ‘ReVX’ badging on both sides, which is a new addition. The roof rails feature a 3D pattern design, which looks very attractive.

The rear tires also get disc brakes. The back profile includes LED-connected taillights, ‘ReVX’ badging, bulb-type indicators, and bulb-type brake lights. The 3D texture design and piano black finish here look great. The Mahindra logo and XUV 3XO badging are also present. Below, you’ll find reflectors, a matte finish bumper, and silver skid plating.

For added convenience and safety, the rear features parking sensors and a reverse camera. Up top, you’ll find a rear wiper, defoggers, a sporty spoiler, and a high-mount stop lamp, with the antenna neatly positioned at the very top

Boot Space and Fuel Tank

When it comes to boot space, it offers 366 litres, which is quite generous. It features 60-40 split seats, but there’s no light setup in the boot, which ideally should have been there. The spare wheel and toolkit are located inside, but note that the spare wheel is for temporary use only. The tailgate isn’t powered, so it needs to be closed manually — something to keep in mind if you’re used to automatic tailgates.

The fuel tank capacity is 42 litres. The company claims a mileage of 18 km/litre, but you can easily expect around 16 km/litre in real-world conditions. The ‘ReVX’ badging has also been added to the other side of the car, further enhancing the design.

Engine and Performance

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the mStallion TGDi engine, which is 1197cc. It delivers 128.73 BHP at 5000 RPM and 230 Nm of torque between 1500 and 3750 RPM, thanks to a responsive 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that offers strong mid-range performance. It’s paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic gearbox for effortless driving.

There’s no hydraulic stand, only a manual one. The insulation quality is quite good.

Interior and Features

Now, let’s talk about the interior, where some of the biggest changes have been made. Request sensors are conveniently integrated into the door handles, allowing for easy keyless entry The door trims are dual-tone, with piano black finish alongside the ORVM and window controls. The interior looks quite appealing. You get space for bottles, four speakers, two tweeters, and a subwoofer.

There’s a matte finish here, which looks fantastic. An idle start-stop button and low beam control buttons are present. Levers for opening the bonnet and fuel lock are also provided.

The biggest change is the seats – you now get leather seats, whereas previously it came with fabric seats. The entire interior now features a leatherette finish, though seat adjustments are still manual.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, you’ll notice the steering wheel isn’t flat-bottomed, but the fit and finish are excellent. The steering wheel has a leather cover, piano black finish, and the Mahindra logo. On the left side, you get voice command, volume, and call buttons, while on the right, you’ll find cruise control and MID (Multi-Information Display) control buttons.

The MID display provides a speedometer, gear positioning indicator, trip meter, and a lot of information that you can customise to your liking. Options like drive info, fuel information, vehicle information, navigation, and display layout are available. The car comes with three drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom.

At the heart of the centre console is a 10.25-inch infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in navigation, and various apps, keeping you connected and entertained on the go. Shortcut buttons are also provided. The reverse camera quality is decent, indicating the two rear parking sensors. If a 360° camera had been added to the ReVX variant, it would have been an even better feature.

The AC vents are accented with chrome detailing, while the centre console sports a sleek piano black finish. You also get dedicated buttons for traction control and drive modes, adding both style and functionality. It boasts a dual-climate zone AC, meaning both passenger and driver can set the AC according to their preference. Fan speed control buttons are also provided. Below, you’ll find a USB port, wireless charging, and an automatic gearbox. There are two cup holders and a piano finish handbrake.

The armrest quality is quite good, and now it also features a leather finish. There’s ample space inside the armrest as well. The piano black finish and 3D texture design in the middle of the dashboard look very appealing.

The IRVM (Inside Rear-View Mirror) and sunroof controls are located here. However, it lacks a sunglass holder. The sun blinds don’t have vanity mirrors or lights. You get LED lights on both sides. Most notably, it also features a large panoramic sunroof!

Safety Features

In terms of safety, the Mahindra XUV 3XO RX is quite robust. It includes ABS, central locking, child safety lock, six airbags, anti-night rearview mirror (Xenon headlamps are not included), curtain airbags, EBD, seat belt warning, door reserve warning, TPMS, engine immobilizer, ESC, rear camera with guidelines, speed alert, speed sensing auto door unlock, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and pretensioner and force limit seat belts. It does not have knee airbags or a heads-up display.

Most importantly, it has received 5-star safety ratings from both Global NCAP and BNCAP, which speaks volumes about its safety.

The seat comfort is excellent, cushioning has been improved, and with leather seats, the comfort is even better.

Rear Seats and Pricing

The rear doors also feature dual-tone door trims and a piano black finish. The rear seats offer good space, with no shortage of legroom or knee room. In the centre, you’ll find AC vents, a Type-C port, some storage space, and a 12V socket. A magazine holder is also provided.

The cabin is equipped with grab handles, utility hooks, and reading lights for added convenience and comfort. At the rear, all three passengers get headrests and 3-point seat belts. A central armrest with two cup holders is also included. ISOFIX child seat mounts are also available. In terms of comfort, it’s very good, and the headroom is also sufficient, allowing even a 6-foot person to sit comfortably.

Verdict and Pricing

The changes made to the Mahindra XUV 3XO RX are quite good, especially the leather seat interior. However, I still don’t quite like the body-colored grille; I feel the piano black finish looked better.

If you have a limited budget, this variant could be a good option for you. If you opt for its diesel variant, you could also get a ₹50,000 discount.

Currently, the ex-showroom price of this variant is ₹12,99,000. If you wish to purchase it, it’s available at A-Automovers near Indira Nagar Metro Station, Gorakhpur. Its on-road price is ₹15,70,776.

Overall, the Mahindra XUV 3XO RX comes with several excellent updates that make it even more appealing. Given the current information, are you considering this new variant, or would you like to explore other options?
